Unconventional Hairstyles For Your Son

If your child is eight or younger, you probably have a lot of control over their looks. Mom and Dad usually call the shots for everything from outfits to hairstyles. If your son is bored of his traditional haircut, there’s lots of ways you can mix it up. Keep reading for some unconventional hair ideas for your son.

Match with Dad. There’s nothing cuter than a father and son duo rocking the same haircut. Ask your barber to give your child the ‘kid-sized’ version of dad’s fade. There’s actually a scientific reason it’s cute, too! Your kid gets half his genetics from dad. Even if they’re not identical, they likely have similar facial structure or face shape. If a style looks good on dad, it’ll probably look good on your son too.

Faux-hawk. This edgy style is adorable on kids! It’s unique without being too “out there” and it gives your child the chance to show off their personality. Your son will feel like a rockstar with his new style. Your barber will show you how to style it with gel at home so you can recreate the look at home. Want to take the rockstar look up a notch? Consider using temporary hair chalk for fun, washable color.

Long hair. Not every kid likes short hair. As your kid gets older, they will likely have preferences for the length of their hair. Call it the Justin Bieber effect: we’re starting to see a lot more boys opting for longer hair. Even if your son prefers longer locks, he should still get regular trims. Getting a trim every four to six weeks will keep his hair healthy and free of split ends. You could even compromise with a trendy cut: long hair on top, with shorter hair on the sides.
